Frome Town Hall Project

December 17, 2015

NVB are delighted to have been given approval to proceed with our Frome Town Hall project with Frome Town Council.

The aspiration is that it should be much more than just council offices and will be home to a number of organisations.  The challenge is in turning a nineteenth century building into a vibrant, open, 21st Century one.

We look forward to returning a much loved landmark to the community.  It is also nice to be working on a project close to home for a change!

New Pavilion at Dauntsey’s School

December 16, 2015

The new pavilion at Dauntsey’s School is now complete.

The pavilion provides the School with much needed changing rooms for their excellent sports facilities and a multi-purpose space, which can accommodate over 200 people, with views of the sports pitches on three sides. There is a large terrace to provide sheltered viewing areas for spectators.

Mark Lascelles, Dauntsey’s School Head Master, said “It is a great credit to our architects that such a large building merges into the landscape so well and it is environmentally friendly too.”

New Tennis Courts at Victoria Park in Frome

December 10, 2015

The Frome Town Council mayor has cut the turf at the start of construction of new tennis courts at Victoria Park (Mary Baily Playing Fields). This is the re-provision of three courts that were in need of re-building in another area of the park close to Frome Selwood Tennis Club who have fund-raised for a large portion of the cost of construction.

NVB Landscape designed the master plan for the park which included the relocation of the courts, gained the subsequent planning permission and managed the tenders for the council. S & C Slatter were the successful contractor and are now building the courts. Early interest in the construction is using the old courts as material to build-up levels for the new courts below the actual court construction. This reduces cost for the council and tennis club as well as traffic on local roads to take the material away.

The courts are due for completion in March.

The Memorial Hall, Llandaff

November 25, 2015

We are delighted to announce that planning approval has been granted for the re-development of the Memorial Hall in Llandaff.

Demolition of the old hall will take place very soon and the New Memorial Hall is due to be ready for the September term 2016. The new facility was designed with support from the community of Llandaff with a local palette of materials including stone, slate and render and will be a valuable assembly building for the school and the community. This facility completes the main elements identified in the original masterplan which has seen the school expand to provide a 6th form as well as improved facilities for the nursery, CDT, sports, library and general teaching.

New Quad at Dauntsey’s School Receives Planning Approval

November 2, 2015

NVB Landscape have just received planning permission for a new Quad at Dauntsey’s School. The transformation of this space will follow the completion of the new Maths and Geography building, by NVB Architects, that is currently under construction and due for completion Summer 2016. This is all part of a long term school master plan.

The space is at the heart of the school. It is designed as a space to meet, talk, enjoy and play. The design includes an informal games court, table tennis and seating within a formal structure of avenues, lawns and hedges.

Opening of Abbot’s Hill Day Nursery

NVB were contacted by Abbot’s Hill School 2 years ago to develop a master plan and obtain planning permission for 3 schemes on the campus. One of these being the expansion of the existing nursery department.

Planning permission was granted in early 2015, the building started on site in April 2015, and was completed in September the same year.  The project converted existing classrooms in a Victorian “pump house” building and a new extension was added to create 2 new nursery classrooms.

The scheme incorporates existing complex level changes with a new playground dug into the hillside. This has created interesting external areas, with pergolas, rubber play surfaces and slides.
